Up, up and away!

I couldn't be more excited about going to LA next weekend- mini girls trip to see our very dear friend who we all miss very much!
B, Kate H, me and Christen- just found out Joyce is joining us, too. Can't wait!

Hair-spiration

This look is beautiful!
Fall to do- learn how to braid my hair like this.
... Or, maybe it would be eaiser to take advantage of my resources and have one of my very best friends (Christen- the braiding bad ass) to learn how to do this to my hair.

New Apartment. New Canvas.

I'll be moving in two weeks and I'm sure everyone can agree that moving SUCKS. Even though I absolutely love my place now I am excited to deal with all the design challenges my new place will bring. So, I came across some pictures and I want to incorporate these design ideas. (The pictures aren't really cooperating and came out kind of small- just click to enlarge.) Let me know what you think!

1. Love the color of this chandelier!

2. A touch of pink, please.

3. Gorgeous wardrobe! I would put my most colorful dresses in here for display.

4. Love this orange couch- especially with the dramatic walls!

5. Gold details... yes.

6. Great patterns in blue.

7. This bed could be every little girls dream.

8. GREAT CLOSET: A. display of shoes B. pink chaise C. WITH drawers. I die.

9. Peach, black and white are making out all over this room. I dig it.

10. I won't have a fireplace in my new apartment but I just liked the look of this. I tend to hate animal print (so maybe this zebra bench will catch on fire) but the black walls make the fireplace pop and the mirror adds to this look without taking too much attention away. Love it.

11. I really like the pink and white stripes- it's really nautical without being too obvious. This balcony is calling me to come outside... coffee and a good book, I'm there.

12. These colors are so intense. I had a bedroom in college with walls a smidge darker than this- it took some getting use to but I loved it.

13. This couch pattern is beautiful and the coffee table is full of entertainment- candle, books, magazines and pink ash trays- yes.

14. The lamp is to die for and I love the pattern on the curtain and pillows. I'm not sure how I feel about that color green though. It may be too preppy for my taste, but overall I like this look.

15. Pretty Pink Power Room

16. Dramatic & Romantic. LOVE it.

I'm thinking about doing a little before and after shoot of the new place- could be fun. Maybe show what kind of design projects I'm working on... I'll keep you posted.

XOXO Kate

Pumpkin Spice Latte- You are the best thing that's ever been mine.

There is nothing like the return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks to remind me it's time for Fall. This cup of joe is so good! It's like the American cousin of Chai Tea.
The weather in Texas hasn't really started to change yet but that doesn't keep me from drinking this delicious concoction and contemplating what kind of boots to wear once it does finally get cooler. What symbolizes the changing of the seasons for you?

Dear U.S. Men's Soccer Team,

You are completely delicious. Athletes and total eye candy... it is out of control.

I am in love. Handsome and funny...

Move over Seann William Scott. I have a new boyfriend- Benny Feilhaber.

Head in the clouds.

Fly. Work. Fly. Play. Repeat.Since I started this J.O.B. at the beginning of the year I’ve had my head in the clouds. Literally.

Traveling for work sounded glamorous at first. There are indeed many perks to traveling and you become quite savvy- never go through security at the airport behind parents and kids or old people- stick with other business folk. If there were no hang ups in the process you are fairly certain you could make it from the parking lot of the airport to your gate ready to board in 7 minutes flat. You are THAT good (or at least you think you are). It has become my regular commute from Monday morning until Thursday nights.
However, every week there and back will wear a girl out. You have to create a routine... a make-shift life during the week or you’ll just go mad. A quasi-life, if you will, until you can get back to the one you’d always thought you’d have (like where you actually pay rent- ouch, caa ching $$$), otherwise you’ll become fat, stressed and grumpy. Not a good look.

Anyway, on to the fun stuff. Traveling has apparently enabled several addictions (good and bad)…
Starbucks-
I feen for it every morning, even if I don’t get coffee… EVERY MORNING. Ok self, back to reality… you don’t NEED it (I repeat, you do not need it). I don’t know how Starbucks has done it but I’m fully addicted.

Yoga-
I have become really fond of yoga over the past few months (Hot Yoga to be exact). There is a great studio a friend/co-worker of mine found in china town with lovely (mc hottie) yoga instructors that are always so happy to see us!
Here’s to you, Mr. Handsome Dred and Tattoo Clad Hippie Yoga Instructor. I never caught your name but thanks for helping me with my triangle pose ;)
(check it out http://www.sunstoneyoga.com/ ) Unfortunately, I found out the studio I visit on the reg in Houston has just shut down. However, this brings me to my new addiction….

Groupons-
Groupons are emails sent from heaven every morning. It’s like a little ‘Good morning, Sunshine... Can I interest you in buying something that could make your day better?’… ‘Well, yes. Yes you may!’. There are deals on everything from maid services to teeth whitening. The most recent groupon I purchased was for 78% off unlimited yoga at a studio near my hotel in Houston. It’s a 5 week trial period for $20- sold!
Other recent purchases include: eyelash extentions, facials, massages, Brazilian blowouts (and more). All necessities... okay, not really. Since I sort of reside in two cities right now I subscribe to both the Dallas and Houston Groupons, holla!

Get youself hooked up- http://www.groupon.com/ . Similar websites (that are just as good as groupon: http://www.buywithme.com/ and http://www.livingsocial.com/)

Blogs-
Particularly design and fashion blogs. I love the way people share things that inspire them and get your creative juices flowing, as well. Viva la blog! Here are a few of my favzies that motivated me to start this blog:
http://www.elementsofstyleblog.com/
http://www.designspongeonline.com/
http://www.boubouteatime.com/
http://fabulousdoodles.blogspot.com/
http://habituallychic.blogspot.com/
http://www.thedallassocials.com/ (personal favorite since one of my dearest friends is the brains behind these operations)

And, many, many, more I will eventually share as well. Thank you, fellow bloggers, for your inspiration.

I'm sure many more addictions have been formed from being on the road but I am either still in denial or have forgotten for now. I'll keep you posted if I think of any others.

A TRIBUTE TO ANDY WARHOL BY DOM PÉRIGNON

I am a huge fan of Pop Art (and Champange, of course) so I am loving this new campaign by Dom. They have joined forces with the Andy Warhol Foundation and Design Laboratory at Central St.Martin’s School of Art and Deisgn to create these fabulous Dom Pérignon bottles. The collection features vintage 2002 Dom Pérignon which comes in three colors- red, blue and yellow. This is a limited time offering starting October 15th. Don’t worry about needing something to celebrate, get your friends together and pop one open as soon as you get the chance. Cheers to one of the most influential artists and cultural figures of all time or, simply, to ART- in whatever form!
